Treblinka

They formed in 1987 in Täby, Stockholm and recorded a single album under this name, Severe Abomination in 1988. In 1989, the band changed its name to Tiamat. Treblinka was founded in March 1988 by Johan "Lucifer Hellslaughter" Edlund. After taking over vocals on the demo recording Mind the Edge by the thrash metal band River's Edge in June 1988, their members Stefan "Emetic" Lagergren and Anders "Najse Auschwitzer" Holmberg joined Treblinka. The name, based on the Treblinka extermination camp, aroused controversy; at their first concert, the band was asked to declare before playing that it was not national-socialist; on stage, Hellslaughter announced: "Our name is Treblinka, and we are proud of it!"
