Virgin Steele

Virgin Steele is a Heavy metal band from New York, founded in 1981. More recently they use elements of symphonic and progressive Metal, and their style is called epic metal. The band was founded at the beginning of the 1980s by Jack Starr, a guitarist of French origin, who wanted to find the recipe for forming the ultimate heavy metal band. The first to answer the call was drummer Joey Ayvazian, and together they began auditioning singers. After some forty candidates, a friend of Joey's introduced David DeFeis to Jack. They rehearsed for three weeks and went into the studio to record what they thought would be a demo, but which would in fact become their first album, Virgin Steele, which they sent to metal/rock magazines.
