Vital Remains is an American Brutal Death Metal band formed in 1989 in Providence, Rhode Island by Tony Lazaro. The band recorded its first album, Let Us Pray, in 1992. It was with Dechristianize in 2003 that they emerged from anonymity, thanks to the presence of Glen Benton of Deicide on vocals, who would also be so on the following album, Icons of Evil in 2007. Glen, being unable to reconcile the two bands live, found himself replaced by Scott Wily.
