Warlord

Warlord was formed in 1981 by guitarist Bill Tsamis and drummer Mark Zonder, from San José, California, in Los Angeles. The new band drew the interest of Brian Slagel, whose label, Metal Blade Records, would release the compilation Metal Massacre, featuring several metal bands such as Malice, Steeler, Ratt, and Metallica. Slagel decided to give the band the opportunity to take part in the next installment of the compilation, Metal Massacre II, on which they play the track Lucifer's Hammer. With a good reception, Warlord made another appearance with Mrs. Victoria on Metal Massacre III and was signed to Metal Blade for the release of Deliver Us, a six-track EP, considered by the specialized press as the cornerstone of heavy metal and epic metal.
