Whiplash

Whiplash is a thrash metal and speed metal band, formed in 1984 in Passaic, New Jersey by Tony Portaro, Tony Scaglione and Tony Bono. In 1986, Joe Cangelosi replaced Tony Scaglione, who had left to join Slayer after the departure of Dave Lombardo. Joe Cangelosi recorded Ticket to Mayhem in 1987 with the two Tonys before joining the German thrash metal band Kreator in 1994. He would record Cause for Conflict in 1995, still with Kreator. In 1989, Glen Hanson joined the band as the new singer. He took part in the album Insult to Injury before the band split up. In 1996 the band re-formed, reuniting the three Tonys to release two new albums, and split up two years later. Bassist Tony Bono died in 2002 at the age of 38.
