Maximum Overdrive

As the Earth passes through the tail of a comet, machines suddenly come to life. It all begins with harmless incidents: an ATM insults customers (including Stephen King in a cameo), an illuminated sign invites passersby to get lost. The situation turns tragic when a drawbridge rises during heavy traffic, causing all the vehicles then on the bridge to fall into the river or collide. Chaos sets in as machines of all kinds begin to attack humans.
