Metallica is forced to question itself when James Hetfield abruptly leaves the band to enter rehab. Metallica's managers then hire a "performance-enhancement coach", Phil Towle, to help the band get along better, as friends, partners and human beings. Towle is often wrongly called the "therapist", since he himself revoked his own license, in order to "try to convince clients to continue their treatment". When the members of Metallica decide they no longer need the "Therapist" and tell Phil Towle so, he tries to convince them that they still need him. "We still have a few trust issues that I believe we need to work out".
