Website
Powerwolf is a German heavy/power metal band from the border city of Saarbrücken, formed in 2003 under the Metal Blade Records label. The album Bible of the Beast benefited from a larger budget than its predecessors, allowing them to record the choirs with 20 choristers in an auditorium and to use the organ of the Sainte-Barbe Chapel in Thionville, France. Powerwolf took part in the Metal Summer Breeze Open Air in Dinkelsbühl (Germany) in 2007, 2009 and 2013. On April 18, 2013, the band announced on its website the track list for their next studio album, Preachers of the Night, scheduled for the summer.

Metal is a menagerie, and the wolf is a favored animal found in a good number of bands (Varg, Thy Art is Murder, Death Angel...). But it's Powerwolf that has almost monopolized the wolf as a totem animal. And apparently, their wolf is rather a fan of a certain form of Christianity. The Vârcolac is an evil creature from Eastern European folklore. It's also the name of a monster in Hellboy.
