Anvil

Anvil (oder anfangs Lips) ist eine kanadische Heavy-Metal-Band, die 1977 gegründet wurde. Sie gilt auch als eine der Bands, die eine mehr oder weniger wichtige Rolle bei der Entwicklung des Speed Metal spielten. Übrigens gilt das Lied Bedroom Game, das man auf dem 1981 erschienenen Album Hard'n'Heavy findet, als einer der ersten Speed-Metal-Songs der Welt. Ihre größten Erfolge sind: Metal on Metal, March of the Crab (instrumental), Forged in Fire und zuletzt Juggernault of Justice. Die Band begann ab 1983, an Erfolg zu verlieren, als Metallica und der Thrash Metal aufkamen. Der Spitzname des Sängers (Lips/Babines) rührt von seiner unglaublichen Mimik her. Der Sänger wurde außerdem dafür bekannt, einen Vibrator zum Gitarrespielen zu benutzen.

We've seen stylish mascots, ugly mascots, invisible mascots, and now I have the honor of presenting to you a mascot that isn't even a living being. Anvil has pushed back the definition of a mascot for a Metal band; their Anvil is everywhere: on their logo, on their artworks, on their merch... One might wonder whether an inanimate object can become the allegory of a music band, and I answer you with a resounding yes! Because it's not just any anvil, it's the Anvil with a capital A.
