Anvil

Anvil (o Lips al principio) es una banda canadiense de heavy metal creada en 1977. Se la considera también una de las bandas que desempeñaron un papel más o menos importante en el desarrollo del speed metal. De hecho, la canción Bedroom Game, que se encuentra en el álbum Hard'n'Heavy publicado en 1981, se considera una de las primeras canciones de speed metal del mundo. Sus mayores éxitos son: Metal on Metal, March of the Crab (instrumental), Forged in Fire y, más recientemente, Juggernault of Justice. La banda empezó a perder éxito a partir de 1983, cuando llegaron Metallica y el thrash metal. El apodo del cantante (Lips/Babines) viene de su increíble gesticulación facial. El cantante también se hizo conocido por usar un vibrador para tocar la guitarra.

We've seen stylish mascots, ugly mascots, invisible mascots, and now I have the honor of presenting to you a mascot that isn't even a living being. Anvil has pushed back the definition of a mascot for a Metal band; their Anvil is everywhere: on their logo, on their artworks, on their merch... One might wonder whether an inanimate object can become the allegory of a music band, and I answer you with a resounding yes! Because it's not just any anvil, it's the Anvil with a capital A.
