WebseiteDevin Townsend, geboren am 5. Mai 1972 in New Westminster, ist ein kanadischer Multiinstrumentalist-Musiker (unter anderem Sänger, Gitarrist und Keyboarder). Er verfolgt eine Solokarriere, erscheint aber auch auf zahlreichen Alben als Gast (Front Line Assembly, Paradise Lost, Ayreon, Gojira…) und/oder Produzent (Soilwork, Lamb Of God, Bleeding Through, Gwar, Zimmer's Hole…). Er hat auch einige Demos zusammen mit Jason Newsted (damals bei Metallica) aufgenommen, über IR8 (ein Trio, dem auch Tom Hunting von Exodus angehört) und Tree Of The Sun (ein Quartett mit Scott Reeder von Kyuss und Dale Crover von den Melvins).

Coming from the concept album that bears his name, Ziltoid is a galactic dictator who threatens to destroy humanity if he isn't served the best cup of coffee in the world. Cruel but also a bit ridiculous, this alien was dreamed up by Devin Townsend out of a sock puppet, and he voices him on the album. The story doesn't stop there, since he got a second tale titled "Z²".
