WebsiteDevin Townsend, born on May 5, 1972, in New Westminster, is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist musician (among other things singer, guitarist and keyboardist). He pursues a solo career but also appears on numerous albums as a guest (Front Line Assembly, Paradise Lost, Ayreon, Gojira…) and/or producer (Soilwork, Lamb Of God, Bleeding Through, Gwar, Zimmer's Hole…). He also recorded a few demos together with Jason Newsted (then in Metallica) through IR8 (a trio also including Tom Hunting of Exodus) and Tree Of The Sun (a quartet with Scott Reeder of Kyuss and Dale Crover of the Melvins).

Coming from the concept album that bears his name, Ziltoid is a galactic dictator who threatens to destroy humanity if he isn't served the best cup of coffee in the world. Cruel but also a bit ridiculous, this alien was dreamed up by Devin Townsend out of a sock puppet, and he voices him on the album. The story doesn't stop there, since he got a second tale titled "Z²".
